« Mado à Paris » was born from an authentic family story. Madeleine, nicknamed Mado, was born in Brittany in 1924. Her first passion took her to the ends of the earth, in an international career with the Nice Opera Ballet and Nina Lopez. Touring the world from Saigon to Cairo, via Beirut and Paris, the star shines with her warmth, her joie de vivre and her charisma.
She shared her second passion with me, her niece, every time she came back from tour. Our favorite recipe ? madeleine of course, Mado’s one! I remember the scent of her madeleines, the flavours from the other side of the world that she brought me back, like a gift. An incentive to travel, which filled my childish eyes with boundless admiration! I imagine the beauty, magic and mystery of her adventures in every bite of this happy little cake.
Mado lived life to the fullest, biting into madeleines, with joy, generosity, sincerity and malice. This little pastry still resonates with me as a magical, authentic moment, a delicious pleasure, a Mado to share with love.
